Earth and Space Sciences Institute began its activities in 1989 as part of the Computer Research and Application Center at Anadolu University, conducting research on Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems. In 1993, it continued its research activities under the Satellite and Space Sciences Research Institute. With the publication of T.C. Resmi Gazete No. 28455 on November 2, 2012, the name was changed to the Institute of Earth and Space Sciences as of November 4, 2012. 

         Established by Law No. 7141, published in the T.C. Resmi Gazete No. 30425 on May 18, 2018, and entered into force, the Institute of Earth and Space Sciences at Eskisehir Technical University continues its activities in three departments, primarily in R&D, education and training, and social benefit components.
